It’s no secret that planning a big event takes time, energy, and a whole lot of organization. According to TheWeddingReport.com, couples spend about 16 months planning their wedding, but whether you plan on your own or you hire a coordinator (we always suggest hiring a wedding planner!), those weeks are spent in a frenzy of visiting venues, meeting with vendors, and deciding everything from table linens to reception music.
It is easy to get so lost in the decisions and deadlines that you forget to enjoy the little moments during your engagement that make this a really special and important time in your life.
However long your engagement is, make sure you set aside some time each week to reflect on everything you have accomplished! Write down your experiences in a journal, post updates on Facebook, start a blog, or record video messages that you can back up on your computer so that you can look back on all of the exciting things that make your wedding so amazing. You can even start an Instagram account just for your wedding! Take pictures as you go through each step and write a little caption about your thoughts, share your engagement photos, tell the story of your proposal, and design a custom hashtag so that on your wedding day guests can share their own photos. It will be a fantastic digital scrapbook that you can look back on. Consider saving your journal (whether it is handwritten or online) and having it printed into an album so you always have a record of your experiences.
